AZ – Omega

AZ is one of the most underrated cats in the game and one of my favorites.  The top comment on this Youtube video is “unknown legend of hip-hop”.  It’s true.  Off Final Call (2004).

You already know that we bump all styles over here.  And this beat is too hot to not post.  Instant classic and a high school throwback. Off Turning Point (2004).

Trampled by Turtles – Rebellion (Lies)

Pretty legit cover of the Arcade Fire cut “Rebellion (Lies)”.  The song was originally released by Arcade Fire on their 2004 debut album “Funeral”, and covered here by Trampled by Turtles as a part of The A.V. Club annual series where The A.V. Club and its fans select a group of songs to be covered, and bands are invited in to cover the song of their choice.  The bluegrass feel lends itself well to this one.  If you’re not familiar, check the original version by Arcade Fire as well.

Blue Scholars – Sagaba

The last Blue Scholars’ album Cinemetropolis was the first album that I actually paid real money for since high school.   Gotta show love to that Northwest Hip Hop, you guys.  This one is off their self titled album Blue Scholars  (2004).
