Straight Bangers

Great songs you haven't heard, everyday. New releases, oldies, your parents' music and more. Hit the search or browse by artist, genre or year.

Rare Monk – Shoot Me Down

This track comes off Rare Monk’s last album “Astral Travel Battles” (2011). This Ninkasi-sponsored Portland group has been making a splash in the indie/alt world.  Fresh off a booze-filled SXSW stint, Rare Monk has been straight killin’ it. Check ’em out. This is their first official music video filmed up in the Gorge.  Enjoy!

Flying Lotus – Parisian Goldfish (from 2008 album Los Angeles)

Hailed as one of the Godfathers of LAs beat seen, Flying Lotus has been on his own plane for years now. In this banger from his 2008 album “Los Angeles,” he engages the viewer both audibly and visually. Warning: this video gets graphic. Don’t watch this at work. Or do. I don’t really give a fuck. Just watch it.

Blockhead – The Music Scene

Blockhead. If you’re not on this tip, chances are you like staying home on Fridays, hate smoking weed, and prefer playing with cats then playing with yourself. Basically, you haven’t heard of Block you square as fuck. His ability to produce hip-hop inspired instrumental beats is straight cray. Watch this mind melting video. If you’re “hip,” smoke some grass before. Off of his 2010 release “The Music Scene.”

Freddie Gibbs & Madlib – Thuggin’

If you’re a beat head, Madlib needs no introduction. He’s blown more blunts and produced more neck breakin beats then most in the game. On this track he teams up with Freddie Gibbs and, as the title implies, they straight thug.
